DAY 48
SEPT 30-OCT 2

NETWORK ▹ The kids all theorize about the crazy weather.

DAY 50
OCT 6-8

NETWORK ▹ Aeryn is declared a leader over the network.

NETWORK ▹ Garrus offers his freshly revived assistance and John snaps outright at the thought that Aeryn is willing to die for the CDC's cause.

NETWORK ▹ Meanwhile she and Shepard discuss butts.

NETWORKThane, Javik and Ryan all offer their full support, and Noh-Varr and Aeryn have a moment, while she and Sturmhond offer up a little solidarity. Aeryn and Zuko chat about exile, politics, and evil homelands. Like you do.

INBOX ▹ Post chat, John makes a second bid at explaining why the thinks she should not die, and especially not for the CDC.

LOG ▹ And, of course, Aeryn tops off a good day by putting her face on Pilot's.

DAY 51
OCT 9-11

LOG The Green/Red mission starts; Aeryn co-leads Green Team in their endeavors and coordinates with the other groups as they kill literally all the shai.

LOG ▹ She has a few pre-combat conversations with Parker, Levi, and Arya Stark-- most of them invovling strategy and ammunition management but there are a few moments of earnest conversation. Even in the heat of battle she finds the moment to share low supplies when it comes to Joel heading back into the fray.

Mid-fight is championed by reliable allies: Garrus, Jasper, Corvo, Javik, Steve Rogers, Temeraire, November Carla, and Maias-- but it's the caregivers that make all the difference, and Aeryn is aided through magic and medicine by Maya and Zack Fair when she needs it most.

Ultimately her choice in not resting caught up with her, and despite protesting violently it was John Crichton who dared to drag her back to camp for at least a few minutes of rest.

DAY 52
OCT 12-14

LOG ▹ Aeryn keeps a promise to bring Noh-Varr two dead shai despite any and all exhaustion.

LOG ▹ She then makes her way to Sector N, dragging in supplies and picking off one angry codja.

LOG ▹ And, thanks to allergies, she carries home one last recruit.

DAY 53
OCT 15-17

LOG ▹ Once again Aeryn volunteers in succession: she saves a fellow recruit from furlix.

LOG ▹ She then returns to camp, checking in on a very weary Parker, and offering up the gift of chocolate.

LOG ▹ Her rounds top off with packing duty, and Tess manages to coax a somewhat volatile reaction.

DAY 54
OCT 18-20

LOG ▹ Aeryn is assigned to babysit Tony Stark as her designated task. Being bad at coddling and used to PK society/ culture, Aeryn interprets this as an insult.

LOG Garrus and Adrien attempt to correct her response in their own ways, while Liara and Hinata decide to lend a hand (the latter leading to an...interesting discussion).

But ultimately it's Alina that succeeds in dismissing Aeryn's concerns, and John that smooths over those irritable wounds.

LOG ▹ We all know Aeryn is better at fighting anyway.

DAY 55
OCT 21-23

LOG ▹ Aeryn's shuttle is hit with an EMP, and having used her sebacean physiology to shield John, is both wounded and suffering from a mild case of heat delirium (thanks fire). Adrien Arbuckal heroically digs her and John out, dragging them to camp.

LOG ▹ Still weakened by the damage, Aeryn briefly regains consciousness for a short, worrisome exchange.

LOG ▹ John, Shepard and Aeryn morosely reflect on their situation.

CMD://END_MISSION

❚❚❚❚❚ NEHEDA
OCT 24-26

DAY 56
OCT 24-26

LOG ▹ Still shaking off the residual effects of heat delirium, Aeryn messages Shepard. They party. :V

INBOX Corvo reports his success but it's tinged with remorse.

INBOX Aeryn gives Pilot his training schedule; the two catch up in the wake of Ajna.

LOG ▹ Aeryn and Tony reunite....sort of.

INBOX ▹ John and Aeryn celebrate not being dead after the crash. [MATURE CONTENT].

DAY 57
OCT 27-29

NETWORK ▹ Dagger gives a heads up on assessments.

NETWORK ▹ But when it leads to a little cruelty involving one of her students, Aeryn steps in.

IC
□ Name: Aeryn Sun
□ Journal: [personal profile] febrile
□ Series: Farscape
□ Canon point: Season 4 - not long after being infected with a genetically encoded illness
□ Personality:

Aeryn is a soldier. Born and bred and whittled from the earliest age into the very definition of that word with all the expectations that go along with it-- which makes sense, given that Peacekeeper culture is (without a doubt) a military one in both structure and thought. It's a cold, stern life bracketed with discipline and peppered with a dash of anti-emotional propaganda: Peacekeepers don't love, they don't feel, and they live and die for the cause that is keeping the universe in check.

It's a remnant of the original, untwisted version of the reason for their creation when the Eidolons (a race dedicated to spreading harmony via telepathic eyeball wifi) decided they needed a race both dedicated and versatile enough to serve as...well, peace-keepers. Galactic vanguards. And when the Eidolons vanished, their creations were left stranded without guidance, resulting in the typical slow slide into good intentions bad means territory; using force to keep the balance. And so on and so forth until what was left behind ages later was a group of fighters with a really badly interpreted set of guidelines and some crappy life choices.

So soldiers soldier on. Live as loyal, unwavering weapons and die when it serves the greater cause-- or when they're no longer an asset. And Aeryn Sun was good at it. More than that: she loved it. Through a number of private conversations with Crichton over the course of the series Aeryn stresses-- multiple times-- that the life she'd led before meeting him, in service, was simple. Straightforward. No thought, no debate, just the basic, unfrustrating duty of following orders. Her fellows were her family, exemplary service rewarded, it was a life without complications or individuality and the list of accomplishments she'd left in her wake were (obviously) validating. But it also meant that-- like anyone living a life without exploration or self-evaluation-- there was a lot she'd been cut off from.

Then again, she didn't really want it any other way.

Which is precisely when Aeryn Sun enters the series, swept up by a massive prison ship named Moya shortly after John Crichton's spacial relocation. The two don't mesh. She's abrasive, hostile, and nothing short of ruthless in her plan to free the two of them (considering the similarities between sebaceans and humans compared to the other species keeping them captive and occupying the universe Aeryn includes him in her escape plan) from the prison ship's new inmate owners. John, on the other hand, is the opposite: he'd rather reason than throw punches, which-- coming from someone that looks like a Peacekeeper-- makes no sense to Aeryn. Eventually the two are reunited with Peacekeeper command only to realize that they've pinned John (the soft, fumbling human) with the murder of one of the pilots that'd accidentally collided with his craft in space.

Knowing John's too dense to be that competent, and too Care-Bears-afternoon-special to want to intentionally cause someone else that degree of harm, Aeryn interjects, attempting to logically explain the situation for what it is and spare Crichton a harsh sentence. Hearing this, the captain passing out the accusations declares that Aeryn Sun is 'irreversibly contaminated' for having spent too much time with an alien species, meaning she'd be taken into custody as well.

Another break out follows, this time with John leading the charge: he urges her to go, she digs in her heels and wants to stay, even with the apparent heavy consequences for that bad decision hanging right over her head. It's stubborn, unreasonable, but finally-- thankfully-- Aeryn caves and officially marks herself as a fugitive.

It's the turning point of her life, and a vital interaction in regards to her personality because its important to understand just how much being a dedicated, loyal soldier (specifically a pilot) meant to her. In the past (when she'd been indefinitely reassigned away from her duties as a prowler pilot) Aeryn discovered the fellow Peacekeeper she was intimate with was working against command, and traded the information in exchange for a free pass to return to her previous duties. And yet with John, that pattern isn't repeated. She isn't stupid enough to imagine command wouldn't hit her with the full punishment regardless of whether or not she stayed or ran, but the more time goes on-- the more she grows familiar with the idea of compassion and sympathy through shared experiences with John and the other crew mates they keep on Moya-- the less willing she clearly is to not only turn in her shipmates, but to maintain the same rigid, unyielding Peacekeeper way of life.

She's still impressively stubborn. Still socially awkward at times via brusqueness and a habit of speaking exactly what's on her mind and holding no punches (sometimes literally) but there's genuine concern there for other creatures' well being, particularly those she's most familiar with and loyal to. The traits that had served her as a Pk pilot carry over to serve her friends instead, and though she wrestles with the idea of emotional attachment being a hindrance more than an asset to anyone, when Aeryn feels needed there isn't a single second thought: she's there, however she can be, whatever the cost.

Which is what eventually gets her killed. Temporarily because ~science fiction~, but that doesn't negate the fact that it was still dying, which as you can imagine is about as unpleasant as the permanent deal, and in exchange for coming back (Aeryn's soul initially refused the offer to return knowing it would cost her friend her health-- and eventually, if untreated, her own life) the consequences of her own failings fall heavily on someone else's shoulders. And that, to put it bluntly, kind of sucks.

So Aeryn decides the Peacekeepers were right: emotional attachment leads to reckless behavior and unnecessary loss. It sounds like the sort of backslide in progress that would knock a character down to who they were right at the beginning of step one, but Aeryn's come too far to go back-- clearly doesn't want to when she informs John Crichton that her feelings haven't changed, and cites Zhaan's deterioration as the reason for why she refuses to act on it. Because she's a soldier, because there is a certain sort of safety and comfort in rules and restrictions...and because she values herself less than she values her friends and allies.

It sounds altruistic. To a certain extent, that's not an incorrect evaluation, but the bottom line is that it's still the rigid, familiar behavioral foundation that she'd relied on as a Peacekeeper: where she would have given her life in battle and considered it nothing short of a gold sticker A+ star, Aeryn swaps military service for service in the name of her adopted allies and would consider dying for their sake just as reasonable an option.

Meaning her habitual stubbornness in this case, in a setting like this one, wouldn't mesh well initially. She wouldn't scream protest from the rooftops, but she isn't built for subtlety or subterfuge for that matter. All that said, given the way Peacekeepers view personal relationships (ie - have a lot of sex and don't you dare fall in love), it also likely wouldn't take much for her to shift into a proper mindset if the right persuasion/pressure is applied. tl;dr, probably a thorn at first, less so later.

□ Age:  Sebacean lifespans are unclear in canon aside from being roughly over twice that of a human's, however Aeryn looks to be somewhere in her mid-thirties by our standards.

□ Gender: Female

□ Appearance: Slight, well-defined, with long dark hair and angular features, Aeryn Sun looks about as human as it gets-- on the outside, at least. She cuts a severe military figure most of the time (preferring to keep her hair slicked back in a tight braid) sporting leather trousers, a black camisole, buckled, leather boots and a thigh holster at her hip, though she does layer it with a longer shirt and trenchcoat when not stuck indoors.

Weather depending, as Sebaceans are violently susceptible to heat.

indoor wearbusiness casual

That said, along the temperature lines, once Aeryn was infected with a specific, genetically encoded strain of heat delirium as payback for assassinating another species' Prime, Aeryn was forced to swap her previous wardrobe for a skin-tight coolant suit that kept her temperature from keeping critical levels. Without it, she'd overheat and lose motor skills, memories-- brain function entirely. Not a fun time.

coolant suit

□ Abilities/Powers:

Trained/ acquired skills: Proficient with guns, grenades, knives and all the basic sorts of futuristic military weaponry. As a PK pilot, that also includes flying lightweight fighter class ships as well as larger ones like prison freighters (particularly the living, sentient sort). She does not, however, have a rich history with flying extensively under the weight of gravity: space is her style, air is not.

Natural/ innate advantages and skills: Sebaceans live longer than humans, possess different physiology (lack of redundant organs), greater physical strength (John lifts a remarkably heavy crate at a maximum level of his hipline; Aeryn then lifts it well above her head), and much, much better eyesight. In addition to all of this her DNA was previously altered, leaving her with slightly heightened senses and an ability to multitask on a undeniably inhuman level.

Not that she was ever human to begin with.

As far as the matter of having children, Sebacean females also don't function the same way that humans do: pregnancy is still a thing, but the fetus remains in stasis for a period of seven years unless manually released from it by a surgeon or (in extreme cases) severe trauma. It also lasts for a number of weeks rather than months (Aeryn refers to it as a geometric pregnancy which means ??? aside from what's shown as typically being a much faster, much easier pregnancy than the standard sort).

Language abilities: In the Farscape universe aliens are (usually) injected with translator microbes that colonize at the base of the brain and offer up an ability to understand almost any language with the exception of very basic (see: animals) and incredibly complex ones. Unknown languages require a short period of adjustment/ calibration.

Powers: None.

□ Personal Items:

x1 standard PK assault rifle, as Aeryn's heavy assault rifle would (sadly) be too large
x1 PK ident chip, namely hers
x1 small holster with a pair of (2) chakan oil charges
x1 locket, not sealed shut
x1 set of PK leathers (pilot)
x1 full-body coolant suit
x1 set of standard clothing ( camisole/ outershirt/ long coat)
x1 white orchid

□ First Person Sample:

[First of all you should be thanking Aeryn Sun's eyes for being focused enough to show a remarkably steady feed, though it's...unremarkable in its subject matter, given that it's the interior of a mostly pulled-apart level 1 apartment. Cabinets all open, kitchen amenities picked to pieces.]

Is all technology in this world broken or am I just the luckiest detainee to have been given quarters that are in obvious disrepair? Look. Look at this. [She reaches up towards the light switches on the wall, flipping a few of them in rapid succession (kitchen light comes on, nothing happens on the second, and the third trips the garbage disposal, prompting a garbling whirwind of shrill metallic sounds to fill the transmission. Sounds that Aeryn chooses to shout over, voice strained with effort.] This is not normal!

[And with that, she flips the switch again, turning it off.] I want this brought back to working order. immediately. Fix it or I shall continue to broadcast this [switch on-- off] once an arn, every arn.

■ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: go for it, just as long as you're not afraid of a right-handed swing or a few fired shots-- or, you know, death threats.
■ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE:
▹would die for any character in game
    ▹would kill if instructed to
▹would mutilate and or torture another recruit (or staff member) if asked to only for John Crichton's sake.

■ RELATIONSHIPS: Aeryn's remarkably wary of them, but with enough time and effort and the right set of circumstances, there's always the possibility.
▹currently engaged in a relationship with John Crichton.

■ MENTAL INFORMATION: guilt, loyalty, violence, anger: they're pretty much the staple emotions Aeryn runs on when she's working with a goal in mind or under someone else's heel. There's a lot she regrets about the circumstances she left behind, and a lot more that she's determined to change, whatever the cost. It's not a pretty headspace to occupy, and double that for any inspection of a remarkably violent, cold service record.
■ MEDICAL INFORMATION: sebaceans look human, that doesn't mean they are: double organs have been eliminated for efficiency's sake as well as a bit of an upgrade regarding physical strength/ eyesight/ etc. That said, while humans can exist within a wide range of temperatures, Sebaceans lack the ability to adjust to extreme heat (cold is fine, they fare better than humans in that respect so cheers for that, Eidolons). In temperatures exceeding the 100s (37c etc) Sebacean bodies will begin to lose motor control and their minds will break down, eventually turning them into living husks. Not pleasant.

Toxins are also filtered via one central 'nerve' and any damage to it without repair will also lead to an eventual death.

■ FAVORITE SENSORY INPUT: she temporarily lost her sight once so we're going with that as almost being blind once was enough in her book.
■ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: aside from being submerged beneath ice (as that was how she died JUST THE OTHER DAY IN CANON) nah. And even then she's got a knack for compartmentalization and moving on.

▹if she thinks she is drowning again she might actually lose it.

■ REBELLIOUS TENDENCIES: None by default, but if things get wildly out of hand regarding the people she cares about she might. It's a fine line as she knows she's here for the sake of someone else and won't compromise their cure (her contract agreement) on a whim.
■ ADDITIONAL PERMISSIONS: NA

■ YES/NO SCENARIOS:
▹NO: Major dismemberment (on the receiving end) that would permanently affect my character (ie losing a WHOLE ARM NEVER TO RETURN AGAIN). That's it. That's all there is. And even that's fine so long as it's thoroughly discussed ahead of time.

▹YES: Everything else. Slice of life, tomfoolery, violence, torture, murder, sexual/violent nonsense, bla bla bla all fine.

Character Appearance:

Character Age:
Sebacean lifespans are unclear in canon aside from being roughly over twice that of a human's, however Aeryn looks to be somewhere in her mid-thirties by our standards.
Pick A Number: 15; 901

Canon Setting:
Farscape is set in a universe that-- for the most part-- mirrors our own: the lead character John Crichton is a human from earth (modern earth if you count 1999 as anything remotely up to date) but it's still our earth. Typical science fiction shenanigans yank him from our known corner of the universe via slipping unintentionally through a wormhole, leaving him stranded in a place where free space travel is possible and hundreds of different alien races live, steal, mingle and wage war with one another.

Order in this foreign section of the galaxy order is maintained by a military presence known as the Peacekeepers. Unfortunately for the human lead in this show, Peacekeepers are aliens (Sebaceans, to be precise) that look exactly like humans. The only ones, actually-- and they also happen to be oppressive, cold, malicious and kind of evil. Scratch that, definitely evil.

And Aeryn Sun is one of them.

Or was, at least, before crossing paths with the only human ever to exist in their territory, finding herself blacklisted shortly thereafter as being 'irreversibly contaminated' in the eyes of the only society she's ever known.

Character History: Once upon a time there was a soldier without social skills.

Character Personality:

In short, Aeryn's willing to do what it takes for her friend to survive, including the destruction of worlds. There won't be any joy in it, and without the steady guidance of her old companions Aeryn will likely do her best to maintain as much of their passed-down morality, but whether or not that succeeds would hinge entirely on the interactions (or lack thereof) that she finds in service.

Character Powers & Skills:

Third Person POV:
It wasn't a chance meeting. Not that Aeryn was aware of that fact, settled down with her elbows wide across the bartop in some remote little watering hole in the depths of uncharted space, soaking up enough room for two people rather than one. It kept prowlers away. Avoided the awkwardness of social interaction between a stranger with interest and Aeryn Sun without any interest whatsoever. Particularly while she's still shaking off the memory of ice-cold water flooding her senses and dragging her down.

She'd rather be alone. For a multitude of reasons (not all of them self-pitying) but no matter how harsh the edge of her jaw is from gritted teeth and locked-up muscle, no matter how she purposely avoids anything remotely inviting or the thought of shrinking back into her space rather than expanding outward like a bulwark, someone settles in next to her. Not human. Not familiar.

They don't seem to notice the fact that she's glaring cold enough to chill blood, and surprisingly enough, they don't even seem to notice her-- not till there's an offer on the table, short and to the point and enticing enough that she has trouble believing them: drops borrowed currency for spent drinks and doesn't look back on her return trip to Moya.

And if they'd left the moment she'd set foot on board things would've gone differently; there wouldn't have been time for the memory of that stranger's pitch to paste itself to her thoughts like a spreading infection: more potent with each passing arn.

She returns later that night-- if there's any such thing aside from the basic concept of solar days when they're not anchored to someone's home world. Makes her demands and signs away her loyalty like something tangible. John wouldn't like it. Zhaan even less.

Shame she won't be there to hear them try and dissuade her.

CHARACTER INFO.
Character Name: Sun, Aeryn
Canon: Farscape; just after her resurrection and before the events of Suns and Lovers.
Character Appearance:

Character Age:
Sebacean lifespans are unclear in canon aside from being roughly over twice that of a human's, however Aeryn looks to be somewhere in her mid-thirties by our standards.
Pick A Number: 15; 901

Canon Setting:
Farscape is set in a universe that-- for the most part-- mirrors our own: the lead character John Chrichton is a human from earth (modern earth if you count 1999 as anything remotely up to date) but it's still our earth.

Scratch that, pretty damn evil.

And Aeryn Sun is one of them.

Or was, at least, before crossing paths with the only human ever to exist in their territory, finding herself blacklisted shortly thereafter as being 'irreversibly contaminated' in the eyes of the only society she's ever known.

P E R M I S S I O N S

P E R M I S S I O N S

NAME: Aeryn Sun
CANON: Farscape; after being infected with a genetically encoded illness
AGE: ??? (looks to be somewhere in her mid-thirties by human standards, likely somewhere over twice that)
SPECIES: Sebacean

BACKTAGGING: always!
THREADHOPPING: as long as an interaction isn't private, absolutely.
FOURTHWALLING: acceptable, just don't expect her to take it well.
ACTION VS PROSE: no preference!
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: NA

PHYSICAL AFFECTION:
go for it, just as long as you're not afraid of a right-handed swing or a few fired shots-- or, you know, death threats.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE:
as much as you want to dish out, you've got the green light; violence is how Sebaceans live.

RELATIONSHIPS:
mmmmaybe. Aeryn's remarkably wary of them, but considering her canon relationship she certainly doesn't let that stop her. That said, it'd probably take a long time and a lot of effort.

MENTAL INFORMATION:
Guilt, loyalty, violence, anger: they're pretty much the staple emotions Aeryn runs on when she's working with a goal in mind or under someone else's heel. There's a lot she regrets about the circumstances she left behind, and a lot more that she's determined to change, whatever the cost. It's not a pretty headspace to occupy, and double that for any inspection of a remarkably violent, cold service record.

MEDICAL INFORMATION:
Sebaceans look human, that doesn't mean they are: double organs have been eliminated for efficiency's sake as well as a bit of an upgrade regarding physical strength/ eyesight/ etc.

Toxins are filtered via one central 'nerve' and any damage to it without repair will also lead to an eventual death.

Important Notes about Aeryn's current status: as she's recently been infected with a specific strain of heat delirium (and the temperatures in Ariel in the summer exceed tolerance levels regardless) Aeryn is currently utilizing a small medical coolant patch to keep the effects of heat delirium at bay. It's slapped up across her ribcage out of sight and-- usually-- out of mind, so for the most part she'll be functioning as normal.

Unless for some reason it gets pulled off or lost....which would be bad.

■ KINK LIST: Found here; please note that the 'maybe' section is dictated by Aeryn's IC limitations and not my own preferences: if it isn't listed or if it's in the maybe section, we can figure out a way to make it work!

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: NA

**It's also important to keep in mind that Aeryn has a very aggressive, and at times standoffish personality: she's a soldier and she's one set up in a society she absolutely does not understand. And despite her tendency to take charge of things, she does not always need to be in control. As a matter of fact, she's been shown to be perfectly happy to yield and surrender the reins every once and a while-- when it's with someone she trusts (otherwise it's likely to be something of a power struggle).
